Racing around Bowen Island in the 22nd annual sailing race.

Wonderful day out on the water. 37 Tacks, 17 Gybes, 27.6 miles, 8 1/4 hours to sail an 18 mile course around Bowen Island ... We didn't make the 7 1/2 hour time limit and got a Did Not Finish ranking ...

Officially we were the LAST boat to cross the line, but several other boats had turned their engines on while Doug and I sailed the entire course so I don't feel we were totally last. Total journey 30.8 miles, 9 1/2 hours.

View from the shore ... there we are ... going the wrong way since I was a little scared of the 119 other boats that were in front of us

Shot of the main fleet way off in the distance ... how did I get so far behind
Round Bowen 2010
At the back of the fleet at least we managed to see the next to last boat in the race ... we did pass him on the far side of Bowen
Round Bowen 2010
Results for the cruising class of the race ... because we were 45 minutes after the end of the race we got a Did Not Finish rating ... hopefully next year will be better
How can you compete
Pretty hard racing against a boat like this ... prototype boat for an America's Cup racer ... at least I don't need to find that many people to crew the boat
