Wonderful trip trip to Gibsons with Doug. No wind getting there, but lots of wind on the way back. On the south side of Bowen we were accompanied by half a dozen White Side Dolphins ... they were part of a pod of about 100 that were chasing herring.

To Gibsons
10.6 miles, 2 1/4 hours. Motoring over to Gibsons for Chinese food. Wonderful cruise over with little wind. Enjoyed wandering around Gibsons.

Speed
6.7 knots ... faster than the motor and much quieter ... most of the trip home was at this speed ... wonderful

Although we were doing close to 7 knots the dolphins left us like we were standing still
Leaving
Having had their fun for the day the dolphins sped off to join the rest of the pod
From Gibsons
13.5 miles, 2 3/4 hours. Sailing back from Gibsons round the far side of Bowen. Great wind, but large swells made a beam reach a little tricky to sail. Pacific White-Sided Dolphins swam with us for a few minutes south of Bowen.
