Hoisting the sails

A wonderful day on the "Ecliptic" trying to fix as much as I could. Pulled out all the cushions to dry in the sun ... there was a lot of water in the boat when it was first looked at. The dockside AC wiring proved to be a challenge in the galley ... 3 wires colored black, red and blue ... not quite the standard black, white and green. The GFI breaker was intermittent as a result of all the wires being very loose. Took me a couple of tries to get the right wires in the right place, but now we have real AC in the galley. After that I tried to plug the crack in hull with limited success. It seems to have slowed a bit, but still leaks. Need to try the underwater bonding capabilities next to avoid the problems with the water still coming in while it is setting. Pulled out the jib and it looks wonderful ... the mainsail has a few problems since it would only go part way up ... need to get some silicone lubricant to see if I can free it up. All in all it was a beautiful day on the boat.

Ferry day going into town to get parts for the boat ... wonderful and blustery on the trip over to Horseshoe Bay ... good thing we weren't out on the little boat.

Hopefully this will be our new sail boat. It needs a fair bit of TLC, but we can look past all the work for the potential it has.

Sneaker - October 1991 to January 2010 - RIP

Sneaker was put down today ... he had lived to the rip old age of 18 and had a wonderful life traveling all over the place with me. He survived his sister by over 2 years and even though he was blind and deaf for the last year or so he was still quite active until this last week. This is the end of an era and the last part of my old life ... I am truly onto my "New Life".

Sailing Around Bowen Island

Round Bowen Island for the first time ... it would have been nice to go around in our own boat, but the weather was too wet, cold and windy for a little boat. Went out with Mike, Chris, Troy & Debbie on the Spirit of Freedom for a wonderful day out. It is amazing the difference seeing the island from the water.
